What this site is
The lab is a place to see employer Social Security, employer Medicare, and the unemployment tax you already know from a notice, then read the loaded cost in a complete sentence. The tax-year assumptions on every numbered page are for 2026 and follow IRS Publication 15 (Circular E) for the employer FICA rates and the Social Security wage base published for that year.
The work is intentionally narrow. There is no employee withholding table, no net-pay estimate, and no promise that all fifty states have been coded. If a number is not in a field, it is not in the total.
What this site is not
This site is not the former Budgeteer Payroll Services. It does not use that company’s name as a claim of succession, and it does not publish that company’s address, telephone number, or “our office” language. It does not process payroll, file returns, or sell a PEO.
The lab is not ADP, Gusto, or Paychex. The pages are not legal advice on whether a person is an employee or a contractor. They are not a substitute for Publication 15, a certified public accountant, or a state workforce agency.
How the numbers stay on the device
The calculators are ordinary HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. After the page loads, they run without a backend. Salaries you type do not need to leave the browser for the estimate to appear.
If you want the long form of the FICA split, start with Employer versus employee FICA. If you want the limit of the product, read Why this is not a payroll service.
